Recurrent Vaginosis September 13th, 2009
After you have had bacterial vaginosis once, you are at a high risk of experiencing recurrent vaginosis outbreaks. These can be really annoying and can destroy your quality of life. They are embarrassing and will cause your vagina to smell very fishy. Not only that, but the outside of your vagina will become very itchy as well. To stop recurrent vaginosis, there are some steps you can take to eradicate it for good.
Tip 1: Eat lots of yogurt that has live bacterial cultures in it. If you don’t feel like eating a lot of yogurt, you can alternatively use the yogurt at the source of the infection. Coat a tampon in yogurt and place it into the vagina for several hours each day. This will help you regain the natural balance in the vagina, making it less likely that your infection will return.
Tip 2: Avoid wearing tight clothing. Tight clothing provides little air flow to the vaginal area. When there is no air flow, it will provide a breeding ground for bacteria and it can cause it to come back time and time again. Wear loose clothing that breathes easily and you will have a much better chance of preventing an infection before it starts.
Tip 3: Vinegar is another wonderful way to prevent recurring infections in the vagina. You can either soak a tampon in a diluted mixture of vinegar and water and place it into the vagina, or you can take a bath and include a few cups of vinegar in the water.
Recurrent vaginosis is something that plagues many women, but if you take the precautionary steps listed above you can prevent those numerous infections from happening to you. Yogurt, vinegar, and loose clothing are all great things you can do to prevent bacterial vaginosis.
