Bacterial vaginosis (BV) is very common in women of all ages. It is often caused by the bad vaginal bacteria overgrowing and becoming more prominent than the good bacteria in the vagina. Although nobody knows the direct causes of bacterial vaginosis (BV), there are many things you can do that will increase your chances of becoming affected with this infection.

After a bowel movement, if you do not wipe properly, you could become at a greater risk for bacterial vaginosis. If any amount of feces gets close to the vagina, it can cause bacteria to spread rapidly into an infection. After having a bowel movement, it is important that you wipe from front to back to avoid any contamination.
